Ampool
Urban electric microcar
A compact, modular vehicule made for urban mobility.
Design for assembly, efficientcy and freedom of drive.
How can we rethink electric vehicle design to address urban mobility, sustainability, and local manufacturing challenges?

KEY CHALLENGES
-
Design a modular vehicle while meeting regulatory requirements for safety, emissions (indirect), and manufacturing.
Must align with evolving standards and provide flexible, certifiable modules.
-
Ensure that trained local garages can safely assemble and maintain a complex electric vehicle.
Requires intuitive design, accessible documentation, and smart diagnostics.
-
Design a connected system that supports diagnostics, navigation, updates, and customization, without increasing cost or complexity.
Simple UI/UX, edge/cloud balance, OTA updates, and user ownership of data.
Modular conception
“The vehicle is made of 14 distinct parts that can be assembled in 4 hours.”
Local Assembly Hubs
Cars are delivered as kits and assembled in local Ampool garages (called hubs), equipped with:
A café/lounge space
A workshop area
A fablab for community interaction and knowledge sharing
Digital Ecosystem
A central screen gathers real-time data from vehicle sensors.
